The Storm Generator
Be careful he's might mad at you today!
[Liberty explains to John-Lee:]
The Zone scientists operated the Storm Generator,
that they have constructed and installed at the very
top of Tiger Cliff. They created weather storms to
keep the natives stressed out and very busy with the
"dangerous environment" far beyond real necessity to
deal with the environment.
The Storm Generator was operated on semi-automatic by
a fixed program based on (a) periodic occurrence, like
every two weeks or so, plus (b) a seemingly-random
variation that was added to create the appearance of
total randomity, or disconnection from reality and
from individual or group causation. Some kind of
totally senseless Force Majeure - an entity that
doesn't really exist.
On top of all these troubles, they operated the storm
function at elevated intensity every time there was a
micro-mutiny of any sort, such as three youngsters who
went out blasting decoy dragons. Or any other activity
that indicated outstanding joy of living. Such a
condition expressed itself in the shape of too many Out-Of-Control
signals from the Glands, or alternatively too few signals of
stress and fear from the experiment area. Operating
the Storm Generator in such a manner was done to give
God a bad name and the image of raging madness. How
exactly does that work? Here, I'll explain it to you.
The Psychographs found no workable way to out-root
the belief in God. And since such belief endangered
them and their God-like scientific altitude (that is,
the positioning of the Psychographs and their
"experts" above the power of the individual and above
his ability to control his own destiny) - they then
decided to distort the image of God and even "speak"
in his name - via the Storm Generator.
You see, they created an image of senseless and
vengeful God, such that has human-like feelings of
rage and revenge. Notice how this aligned with the
intention of the more overbearing religious leaders,
to speak in God's name, saying something like:
"Oh my goodness he's might mad today! But don't
you worry I have a direct line to Him. If you only
gift me such and such I will try and
appease Him so He doesn't knock your silly head
off today."
